Pocket Door Lock Set - Just a couple months ago I went over to repair a pocket door that was closing in a peculiar angle. This is the first time I had ran into this sort of scenario and was undoubtedly confused. I began looking inside the pocket door frame and got a torch. I had difficulty finding the problem but when I did it was obvious.
The bottom of the door would stick out about an inch and a half as the pocket door was skidding closed it works perfectly but when you went to open it. There clearly was no way since it was at that back of the pocket door frame near the framing, to attain the screw.
To be able to fix the pocket door problem, I was going to need to remove a great sized area of the plastered wall in the upper right hand corner of the pocket door frame. This is the sole thing I would require a straightforward wall patch and really could think of and a few paint to help make the repair whole. This job took me about one hour to cut the hole and replaced the screw that had fallen out from the pocket door track. I then use some fast setting drywall plaster and some fiberglass drywall tape to fix the wall. This took another hour to complete the drywall correctly.
Some pocket door difficulties are a little easier to repair than this one. Most pocket doors seemed to have difficulties sliding and eventually are left closed, never to be used again. Painting the doors over and over again can in fact add to the thickness of the door or the doorway to swell keeping it from opening correctly can be also caused by excessive moisture in the home over long periods of time.
