Hafele Pocket Door Kit - Just a few months ago I went over to fix a pocket door that was shutting at a bizarre angle. It was the very first time I had ran into this sort of scenario and was undoubtedly confused. I got a flashlight and started looking in the pocket door frame. I had difficulty finding the problem but when I did it was noticeable.
The issue turned out to be as the door slid back to the frame the tracking would hang down at an angle in the weight of the doorway and the track was missing a screw in the rear. There is no way to attain the screw as it had been at that back of the pocket door frame near the framing.
It was the only real thing I could think of and would require an easy wall patch and a few paint to make the repair whole. This job took me to cut the hole and replaced the screw that had fallen from the pocket door path. I then use some quick setting drywall plaster plus some fiberglass drywall tape to correct the wall. This took another hour to finish the drywall correctly.
Some pocket door issues are a little easier to fix than this one. Most pocket doors seemed to have issues sliding and eventually are left closed, never to be utilized again. Painting the doors over and over again can actually add to the thickness of the door or the doorway to swell preventing it from opening correctly can be also caused by excessive moisture in the home over long periods of time.
