Baldwin Mortise Pocket Door Lock - Just a couple months ago I went over to repair a pocket door that was closing in a weird angle. This is the first time I'd ran into this type of situation and was definitely lost. I began looking within the pocket door frame and got a torch. I had difficulty finding the problem but when I did it was apparent.
As the pocket door was sliding shut it would work perfectly but when you went to open it the bottom of the door would stick out about an inch and a half passed the door jam. There was no method since it was at that very back of the pocket door frame near the framing itself, to attain the screw.
This is the only thing I would require an easy wall patch and could think of plus some paint to really make the repair complete. I then use some quick setting drywall plaster and some fiberglass drywall tape to repair the wall. This took another hour to finish the drywall correctly.
Some pocket door issues are a little easier to repair than this one. Most pocket doors seemed to have issues falling and eventually are left shut, never to be used again. Painting the doors over and over again can in fact add to the depth of the door or the door to swell keeping it from opening correctly can be also caused by excessive moisture in the home over long amounts of time.
